Terrific game, huge fan of the Wonder Boy series and this is so clearly a love letter to it. Great art and gameplay. It has a bit of a learning curve, but little punishment for needing to take more continues to progress. Absolutely would suggest buying if you like metroidvania type action/rpg games and would recommend going physical if you can find one new! The reversible cover, manual with art and sticker set are adorable and you wont be spending any extra (I actually saved money going physical )

It's gorgeous and when it is in the groove it plays incredibly well. That said, there are difficulty spikes throughout the game, even pretty early on, that might sorely test patience or even get people to give up. It could either desperately use some level tuning (some jumps are a holy mess) or even a difficulty switch to tone it down in places. You'll cruise and have a great time but the BAM it kicks your ass hard. Very true to Monster Boy, and truly great when it rolls, but unbalanced.
