Okay game. Ratings of this game in online publications feel handicapped; if you’re expecting something as good and highly-produced as a Mario side-scroller, keep looking.

    DeQuimet says:
After all, I finished Mighty Switch Shantae (officer mode) and it's really good if you liked previous Mighty Switch Force games!

The final DLC is Pyjama mode and it seems pretty barebones, like the Ninja and Beach modes.

    DeQuimet says:
Pretty good game. I like the various transformations that allow for clever puzzles and different ways to complete the levels (e.g. bypass sections with the bat's flying). The story is compelling enough to push me through the game but is quite basic in the end. Still, the characters are likeable. I liked to return to previous levels with new abilities to find new secrets and collectibles, in true Metroid fashion.

I also played and finished the Pirate Queen's DLC, as well as the Friends to the End mode. The Pirate DLC is also very good and similar to the main game, as you collect new abilities and power-ups during the game, but the Friends DLC was barebones. I liked the Trine mechanic but the level system with the gems was limited, in my opinion. Basically, you collect gems from enemies or jars and when you reach a certain amount you level up (usually more damage), but you can lose gems by getting hit. There are no health upgrades so it can become difficult at times.

I barely tried the Ninja and Beach mode/costumes and they are too similar to the Friends mode with the gems leveling and without the Trine mechanic. I was tired of doing the same levels again and again in each mode.

I also started the Officer mode, which is like Mighty Switch Shantae. This is quite good; I really liked the Mighty Switch Force games. I might finish this mode and check the rest of the DLC, but right now I think I need a pause from this game...
